Fire Horse Glass

- Testimonials

Emerald came to the Foundling Museum and ran drop-in glass mobile workshops over two days during half-term to support an exhibition of work by multimedia artists including Tracey Emin. The children participating ranged from toddlers to 12 years old. To echo the theme of mothers leaving personal tokens with the babies they gave up to the Foundling Hospital, visiting families were asked to create a memento of continuing friendship and love for a friend who was moving away. The result was beautiful, unique mobiles made with wire, beads and glass that the children proudly took home with them. Emerald is very friendly and easy to work with, professional, self-managing and totally reliable, which is a boon to a small, understaffed organisation! We already discussing other creative sessions with her.

Emerald came to our school during the summer term 2009 and worked with children from years 3 to 6. She was very flexible, working with our changing brief, until we settled on a beautiful design. We are delighted with the mosaic - the centre of our quiet prayer garden; it is used every day.

Emerald facilitated a project to design and make a glass mural at Island House. The project took place between Christian and Muslim children and helped them get to know more about each other and included visits to a church and a mosque. Along with members of Island House, Emerald encouraged both groups to ask questions and put down their ideas colourfully and imaginatively. The finished project combined ideas on Christian stained glass and Islamic architecture and is on permanent display at Island House. Emerald was an enthusiastic workshop facilitator and everyone enjoyed taking part.

Emerald helped me run some English-through-art classes while she was living in Japan. She was an enthusiastic teacher and the classes were very inspirational. Emerald helped the children create some original pieces, especially mosaics and small glass mobiles, and located all the class materials. The children had a lot of fun and learnt some English too.
